From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and dark forces growing in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Viewers can anticipate learning which players will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
