Beautiful weather, classic snacks and legendary venues - what else would an England cricket fan possibly want?

Ideally, they'd want an Ashes series in Australia where they retain a possibility to secure the famous trophy once the opening games are done.

Unfortunately, this scenario is off the table on this occasion, however, after the hosts' dominant victory by 82 runs in Adelaide left the home side with a 3-0 lead for the fourth successive Ashes series on home turf.

The loyal traveling fans, the vocal contingent, have 3,000 fans making the journey for the last two matches in the SCG and MCG.

Furthermore, other organized trips who will celebrate the holidays in Australia, as well as loved ones planning a special expedition.

The Ryding Siblings

A group of four supporters are four such fans.

The four siblings had their itineraries and entry credentials secured for the fourth and fifth Tests "well ahead of time", hoping to witness a long-awaited triumph.

Sadly, they've observed Australia defeat England convincingly in just 11 days from their family home in Penwortham, Lancashire.

"Everyone at work has been making comments that the series is done for the last two weeks," stated Sam Ryding.

"We always thought that we would have something to play for still when we got there."

Diminishing Hope

Hope was abundant regarding the team's prospects of securing a first win in 15 years for a triumph on Australian soil ahead of the tour.

But they are now staring down the barrel of extending their winless run in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the next match starts in the MCG on Christmas Day.

The England team - and their followers - will be keen to prevent a dreaded 5-0 scoreline.

One sibling noted the "excitement and fun" of head coach Brendon McCullum's 'Bazball' in recent years had "renewed interest in" the five-day game for followers of the team.

But the Ryding siblings said they had realistic outlooks for the final two games - and all they are hoping for from the players is "a bit of fight".

"Every pundit alludes to it, but it all hinges on mental resilience. 'Bazball' has been turned into a buzzword now that is just, like, nonsense cricket," added Rory.

"Over the course of five days, you should hunker down. Wafting outside 'wide of off stump has never featured in the coaching manuals, and that is mainly the fault the batting lineup."

Future Prospects

When questioned if he believed England will triumph in a Test in this Ashes series, one fan responded: "The evidence suggests the Australians are superior currently."

"Necessarily, there must be more than one player that stands up for England and turns the game."

Despite the scoreline, the siblings are still looking forward to the trip.

"We will have a wonderful trip nonetheless," added another sibling. "We have to go with that outlook."

"Of course, it's a let-down we aren't fighting for more, but we have spent so much money as it is."

"We plan to savor having Christmas and New Year overseas. Additionally, it's mine and Rory's first time abroad over Christmas."

A schoolteacher, Katie is intent on maximizing the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her seasonal break.

"If all else fails, I've got golf to turn to," she finished.
